Care Capacities
Catered Supports
At Obsidian Support Services, we understand that traditional mental health support models, such as group homes and treatment facilities, can often lead to the removal of Indigenous youth from their homes and communities. This separation can have a detrimental impact on their emotional and psychological well-being, hindering their ability to form healthy relationships and connections with their culture and community.
To prevent this from happening, we offer In-Home Support programs designed to provide personalized, professional care directly in the homes of Indigenous youth with complex behavioural and support needs. Our goal is to keep families together while providing evidence-based care that targets underlying emotional and behavioural response pathways to promote genuine, positive foundational change that lasts a lifetime.
Our In-Home Support programs are adaptable and can accommodate staffing ratios ranging from one-to-one, two-to-one, or three-to-one, depending on the severity of the client's needs. This flexibility allows us to provide individualized care that fills the gaps between traditional facility care and outpatient support structures.
Designed to provide culturally sensitive and evidence-based care to Indigenous youth and their families with complex behavioral and emotional needs. Here is a more detailed breakdown of each level of care:
Early Support: This level of care is designed for clients with mild to moderate support needs. The focus is on providing light intervention, such as counseling and life skills training, for 6-15 hours per week. The goal is to provide early intervention to prevent the escalation of emotional and behavioral issues that could lead to more severe support needs.
High-Risk Intervention: This level of care is designed for clients displaying high-risk or dangerous behaviors. The focus is on providing personalized support for 16-35 hours per week, which can include intensive counseling, behavioral interventions, and crisis management. The goal is to stabilize and manage the client's behavior to prevent harm to themselves or others, and to support the client and their family in developing skills to manage complex behaviors over time.
Placement Deterrence: This level of care is designed for clients on the verge of being placed into group homes or treatment facilities. The focus is on providing 12-24 hours per day of support catered to the client's needs, which can include intense counseling, behavioral interventions, and support for daily living skills. The goal is to prevent placement outside of the home by stabilizing the client's behavior and providing comprehensive support for the client and their family to address underlying issues that contribute to the need for placement.
At each level of care, our team of experienced mental health professionals works closely with the client and their family to develop a personalized plan of care that targets the unique needs of the client. We provide ongoing support and monitoring to ensure that our services are effective and meeting the needs of the client and their family.

We aim to help youth and their families achieve their goals, improve their overall well-being, and strengthen their connections to their community and culture.
